Moving from Bukku to Invoa, honestly
What carries over when you import from Bukku (customers, products, invoices, payments, your numbering), what does not, and how the two compare on price as of October 2026.
· Shamsuddin Salleh, founder
Bukku is good software. Prigo X ran on it until 11 October 2026, when we moved our own invoicing onto Invoa, kept every Bukku number, and carried on. This post is what we learned doing that, written for anyone weighing the same move.
Why a business moves
The reasons we hear are consistent. Bukku is a full accounting system with invoicing inside it; some businesses want it the other way round, a sales and payment tool that hands clean numbers to whoever does the accounts. Others want quotations and proposals that customers accept online, a pay page on every invoice, or an assistant they can talk to. None of that makes Bukku wrong. It makes it a different shape.
What carries over
Invoa reads Bukku's own Backup Data exports, so you do the move yourself in a few minutes:
| From Bukku | In Invoa |
|---|---|
| Contacts | Matched to existing contacts by TIN, then email, then name. Only new ones are created. |
| Products and services | Added to Products & Services. |
| Sale invoices | Issued invoices with their original numbers and dates, marked as imported. |
| Sale payments | Recorded against their invoices. Payments that had a Bukku receipt get an Invoa receipt under the original receipt number. |
Your numbering continues where Bukku left off. Ours went from PX-IV-26-0006 in Bukku to PX-INV-26-0007 in Invoa with no gap, and the old invoices still show their Bukku numbers. You can import the full history or only open balances, and nothing is emailed to customers or sent to LHDN during the import.
The step by step is in the docs: Import from Bukku.
What does not
- Quotations. Bukku's Backup Data does not include them. Re-create open ones, or ask us to bring them across during onboarding.
- Credit notes. Not imported. Re-create any that are still open.
- E-invoice status. Invoices Bukku already submitted to LHDN arrive marked "Not submitted". Do not submit them again; LHDN already has them. Submit only invoices you issue in Invoa.
- Full ledger, journals, inventory. Invoa is not a general ledger. It exports journals for SQL Account, AutoCount and Xero, and gives your accountant a free seat with period locks, but the books live with your accountant's software, not in Invoa.
Price, side by side
Facts from each vendor's own pricing page on 21 October 2026, before SST. Bukku's prices are from bukku.my/pricing; if we have something wrong, tell us and we will correct it.
| Bukku | Invoa | |
|---|---|---|
| Free plan | Launch, RM0, for companies under six months old, 50 recommended transactions a month | Free, RM0, any company, 20 invoices a month |
| Entry paid plan | Seed, RM35 a month or RM350 a year | Core, RM39 a month or RM390 a year |
| Next plan | Grow, RM65 a month | Pro, RM79 a month or RM790 a year |
| Higher plans | Prime RM95, Elite RM135 a month | None; Pro is the top |
| Users | No limit on every plan | 1 on Free, 3 on Core, unlimited on Pro; accountant seat always free |
| E-invoicing | Every plan | Every plan |
| Trial | 30 days of Elite | 14 days of Pro, no card |
Bukku charges less at the entry level and its user limit is more generous. Invoa's price is flat at the top and includes the pay page, the AI connectors and bank reconciliation. Which is cheaper depends on how many people and how many invoices you have; the comparison page has the longer table.
How we did our own move
- Exported Contacts, Products & Services, Sale Invoices and Sale Payments from Bukku's Control Panel.
- Uploaded all four files in Invoa's Settings → Import data and reviewed the preview: 6 invoices and 5 receipts imported with their numbers. Our 13 quotations, which Bukku's export does not include, were brought across separately with their proposal PDFs attached.
- Matched each Bukku tax code to its SST treatment.
- Set the next invoice number to 0007 and the next receipt to 0006.
- Imported, then issued the next real invoice from Invoa the same day.
It took an afternoon, most of it on the quotations. Had the open-balances option been enough for us, it would have been twenty minutes.
If you are moving from SQL Account, AutoCount or spreadsheets instead, the wizard does not read those files yet. Write to hello@invoa.io and we move the data for you as part of onboarding.
